**Show Recap** Fat Rat Da Czar, LeLe, Ox & Wally Fattz, Steam Squad
I arrived at New Brookland Tavern around 10PM and things were already in full swing. The Steam Squad was on stage doing there thing. I have to say that its refreshing to see a real crew these days. Those fellas really support each other, and the ALSO support other artist. The Steam Squad had complete control of the front row the entire show and they were having a good time, which translated to others in the crowd having a good time. I think we can all appreciate that, Salute to the Steam Squad...oh...and there music is funkydopefresh also. I have to give a special shout out to Kingpin aka The Villain of Vinyl for laying the smack-down on the speakers in between the acts. He truly played some of the latest AND the greatest Hip Hop songs and kept the energy up the entire time...absolutely no dull moments. Ox and Wally Fattz of B-Fam were the next to bless the stage and they both had the crowd rocking. A real standout track for me was "Paul Pierce" by Ox...he flowed flawlessly over a classic Fugee's beat. I won't ruin the surprise of which one for the folks that missed the show....just be on the look out for Ox's mixtape "Who Am I" currently in production. The whole B-Fam and the B-Fam Riders get busy and in my most Hopkins/South East Columbia accent I wanna say "I fuhks witchyall" haha. Now lets talk about LeLe aka Bad Bad. This was her first time performing at the New Brookland Tavern, and I've personally seen a lot of people nervous their first time on that legendary stage. Its understandable, because literally EVERYONE you would consider in the "Best To Ever Do It In SC" category has stepped on that stage. If LeLe was nervous you couldn't tell. She got on that stage like it was her home and delivered an awesome show. She's no stranger to performing so it shouldn't have been that big of a surprise to anyone who is familiar with "The Woman Of The City". She performed songs off her "Loyalty" album which IS available on Itunes. I know everyone enjoyed her performance and she left with some new fans for sure. I could hear people talking about how much they enjoyed her show afterwards. Now sometimes when an artist is about to hit the stage the DJ or host might have to round the crowd into the pit to give the next act their proper due, but when FatRat Da Czar is about to hit the stage the crowd rushes to the pit to get their spot in preparation for the big homie. It was no question of who folks were ready to see and its understandable since he's been really keeping the party going lately with the video and Itunes release of "All Around Da Town" and the release of the "Tryin To Make It" video. He had the crowd rocking with joints from Da Cold War 2 and a lil from I Know You Don't Love Me. Juice aka was in the building to perform his single "All I Need" which features Fat Rat as well. The energy from the crowd was at its highest point when FatRat gave everyone a glimpse of "Da Cold War 3". He performed 3 songs from the upcoming album including "Be Strong" with a surprise guest Ben G of B-Fam. FatRat's support of the young talent in SC and especially Ben G is no secret so it was a pleasant surprise to see Ben G creep on stage and to catch the alley-oop from Da Czar. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and got to see some new and some familiar faces. A lot of people are supporting the scene these days. I want to say thank you to some of the folks I saw out Saturday night (Akshun, EClipz, ILLNatured, LeTroy Gardner, Justin Smith,Jimmy Fingaz and Vo Norris, Renee McDaniel, Jay-Gatz, LJ, Jokes, MisFit, VeeShawn, Mook G, John Taylor, Cap, Howie T, Shekeese The Beast, and the awesome staff at New Brookland for making sure my shot of Wild Turkey was extra wild.)
Stay tuned because soon I will have pictures and video from the event.
